To arrange your interior decoration, you will first think of the furniture and its arrangement, the color of your walls, the paintings or photos that you will hang, the objects that will decorate your rooms. Often the lighting of your interior will be one of your last concerns. However, the way we light a room can have a significant impact on all of our interior design but also on our mood! We thus tend to avoid or even neglect dark rooms and we can feel a feeling of narrowness if one of our rooms is poorly lit and leaves the angles in the dark for example. Here are some tips for using lighting as an asset to improve your interior.

The different types of basic lighting

There are different types of lighting depending on the place, its use but also the atmosphere you want to bring to a room.

General lighting

This is the one that will set the overall tone of your room because it is the one you will light first! It will be useful to illuminate the room as a whole, to allow at a glance a global vision. It should allow you to circulate without problem and to visualize the angles also. It is generally for this type of lighting that the strongest brightness is used.

Functional lighting

As its name suggests, it is installed to allow you to practice a meticulous activity with a specific goal: reading in a room, removing make-up or shaving in a bathroom for example. In short, the functional lighting must be strong enough to allow you real visual comfort. It is often installed in addition to general lighting.

Point lighting

The purpose of this light is to illuminate and highlight an object, a painting, an angle, a relief. It is an element in its own right of your decoration and goes hand in hand with the goods that you want to highlight. It is generally an oriented beam, of low to moderate intensity. It will enliven your interior.

Multiply lamps and light points for a warmer atmosphere

Additional lighting

Once the basic lighting is arranged, you will be able to create warmth and give emotion to your interior with decorative lights that will decorate your living rooms. Why not add garlands of light balls to children's rooms like adults? It is an original idea to soften a room. There are customizable ones, you can in this way adapt the colors of the balls to those of your room and play with the shades of color to create a personalized atmosphere. In your kitchen or living room, have candlesticks and candlesticks. Incandescent and lively light immediately brings warmth and comfort to a room thanks to the golden yellow color that emanates from it. You can also have fun diverting everyday objects to make beautiful supports for your candles. Use empty jam jars and large canned glass jars so you can put candles of different sizes side by side in these clever reworked candle jars. You can also collect your metal cans which, pierced with holes will diffuse a magical light. Or, divert your glass vases filled with water to no longer welcome flowers but floating candles, in the center of the table, during dinners for a chic and warm touch. (Always be careful with the fire and remember to put out the candles when you are no longer in the room.)

Do not neglect the choice of bulbs!

Consider multiplying the light sources in your interior by diversifying their color, their intensity as well as their location. The same room can completely include both general lighting, a functional light source and a spot spot that you can turn on as you wish. Do not hesitate to vary the types of lighting: wall lights, pendant lights, floor lamps, floor lamps. If naked bulbs were strongly discouraged in terms of decoration, there are today very beautiful filament with original cables that no longer require a lampshade to hide them. You can also decorate your light sources with dimming systems to change the moods of each of your rooms according to your moods and thus further personalize your interior.
